IDENTIGENE's Management Team
Douglas Fogg, Chief Operating Officer
Doug Fogg is chief operating officer of the Sorenson Genomics family of companies: Sorenson Genomics, Sorenson Forensics and IDENTIGENE. Since he assumed this role in 2001, Mr. Fogg has been directing the operations of Sorenson Genomics, including its effort to define new market segments, to develop new products and services for domestic and international direct-to-consumer sales, and to establish national and international distribution networks for its laboratory services.
Mr. Fogg came to Sorenson Genomics with extensive business experience with a variety of international manufacturing companies, where he developed expertise in international marketing and OEM sales; product development; organizational development; operations management; and P&L responsibility. Prior to Sorenson Genomics, he served nine years as President and CEO of OTSCON Inc., a Japanese OEM manufacturer of automotive parts for Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru and Isuzu. Mr. Fogg holds a Masters of International Business Studies (MIBS) with emphasis in international financial management and Japanese from the University of South Carolina, and a BA in International Relations from Brigham Young University.
David D. Einum, Ph.D., Laboratory Director (Salt Lake City)
Dr. David D. Einum has ultimate responsibility for all aspects of legal relationship testing at Sorenson Genomics' genetic testing laboratory in Salt Lake City, UT. He reviews and reports all legal casework involving autosomal, Y chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA analyses. As lead scientist of Sorenson Genomics' Research and Development team, Dr. Einum oversees the development, validation and implementation of new technologies and testing services.
Dr. Einum received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Zoology in 1993 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. He attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City as a graduate student where he studied the role unstable trinucleotide repeats play in neurodegenerative disease. This work led to multiple publications in the scientific literature as well as to a Ph.D. in Human Genetics in 2001. Dr. Einum joined Sorenson Genomics in 2006 after performing the duties of Associate Laboratory Director at an Orchid Cellmark parentage testing facility in Michigan.
Laura Gahn, Ph.D., Laboratory Director (Houston)
Dr. Laura Gahn serves as IDENTIGENEÕs Vice President of Forensic Production, DNA Lab Director and Forensic Technical Leader. In her position with the Company, Dr. Gahn is responsible for supervising all aspects of the forensic laboratory operations, including case processing and technical review of casework. As Forensic Technical Leader, Dr. Gahn is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the forensic laboratoryÕs superior technical standards and quality assurance.
Dr. Gahn has over 15 years of experience in Molecular Biology. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. She is the author of numerous research publications and is a member of several national scientific organizations. She is often invited to lecture on topics related to current and future trends and applications for developing DNA technology. She is also a court-qualified expert witness in DNA testing.
Chris Harmston, MSE, Director of Quality, Records, and Safety
Chris Harmston has been with GeneTree since 2001 and brings 15 years experience as a Quality Manager in ISO 9000 compliant or accredited organizations. Chris' previous work includes the development and management of quality systems in the manufacturing, construction, and semiconductor industries. ChrisÕ education focused on the semiconductor industry which includes baccalaureate degrees in Physics and Materials Engineering and a Masters degree in Materials Engineering. With a lifelong passion for rock climbing and mountaineering Chris became the Quality Manager for Black Diamond Equipment in 1992 where the manufacture and testing of climbing equipment became his passion. Chris continues to stay involved in the outdoor industry by volunteering his free time to assist medical researchers understand the physiology of victims buried in snow avalanches.
