DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC), located in Fairfield, Ohio, acquired Salt Lake City-based Identigene in December, 2016 and all paternity testing services are now being processed at the Ohio lab. It’s a change that no doubt brings with it many questions from you—our valued customer, so here are some quick answers!
Q: Is the DDC lab highly accredited for paternity testing?
A: Yes! The lab maintains the highest levels of accreditation for DNA testing from AABB, ANAB, CAP, and more, so you can be sure your test is in excellent hands.
Q: The business-reply envelope in my paternity testing kit is addressed to Salt Lake City. How do my samples get to Ohio for testing?
A: All samples sent to Salt Lake City are automatically forwarded via overnight mail to the lab in Ohio, so you can expect an additional business day for transit. No worries—the little extra travel time won’t affect the quality of the DNA.
IMPORTANT: If using the postage-paid mailing envelope included in the kit, please allow 7-10 business days for samples to arrive at the lab.
Want faster results?
If you have not yet sent in your samples and want to expedite delivery time, we recommend putting the paper sample envelopes in a standard business-size envelope and mailing them directly. You can also overnight samples to the same address, if you prefer:
Identigene, LLC.
1 DDC Way
Fairfield, OH. 45014
Q: How soon do I get my results?
A: Once samples arrive at the lab, testing turnaround time is two (2) business days (1-day and same-day results are also available for an extra fee.)
Q: Where do I set up the test online or log in to access my paternity testing results report?
A: You can set up your paternity test or log in for results right here on the Identigene website, by clicking the relevant button at the top of any page.
Q: Can I get my paternity test results over the phone?
A: No. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but DDC has a long-standing policy to not give results over the phone, for security and privacy reasons.

Rhaynon says
Hi I paid for the nipt and my blood work and the alleged fathers swab made it to the lab today 7/7/17 I called and they confirmed it. When will I get my results? I know it says it can take 5-7 business days for them to even get my kit but considering they already have my kit when can I expect my results?
Identigene says
Hi, Rhaynon. It’s 5-7 business days after all testing materials arrive at the lab, including both yours and his. So the clock’s ticking on the 5-7 business days starting today. Hopefully it’ll be sooner than that…that 5-7 day time period is an estimate. Thanks for choosing DDC! If you have additional questions, feel free to call our NIPP test support line at 800-303-9085.
Sidney says
Why would the lab request more time? I’ve had an unfortunate experience with a previous company doing my prenatal DNA test and now I’m extremely nervous about my results now. I was told yesterday at 6 now when I called it’s tomorrow at 6. What’s going on
Identigene says
No worries! We test a standard 16 genetic markers, but sometimes that’s not enough for conclusive results. Sometimes we need to test up to 26 and that takes more time…up to two days, depending on the number of tests we have in queue for the equipment. Then we run the test twice as a safeguard. I know waiting is agonizing, but it’s best to make sure results are accurate.
Centura says
Hello I sent in my sample a week ago today and I was wondering at what point will I get my results?
Identigene says
Hi! If you used the business-reply envelope to send in your samples, it takes 5-7 days for that envelope to reach the lab. It may be taking a little longer for the postal service to deliver it due to the New Years holiday, but your samples should arrive anytime. If you included an email address on your paperwork, an alert will be sent to that address once samples are received and testing begins, so keep an eye on your inbox!
KIERRE BROWN says
Hey i sent my results on 5-1-17 through the envelope that was in the kit.The extra paper were your info suppose go on was not sent in with my results. Will you guys still be able to tell me the results by my name.
Identigene says
Hi, Kierre. Unless you paid online, we have no way of contacting you if you didn’t also include the info sheet. Please call us at 800-344-9583.
Andrea says
Hi I sent in my dna on new years eve. I was wondering by when will I get results?
Identigene says
Hi, Andrea! If you used the business-reply envelope included in the kit then, as this article states, you should allow 5-7 business days for it to reach our lab. Because you sent it over the holidays, there may be a slight delay due to USPS being a little slower. Once it arrives at the lab, however, results are posted in just 2 business days. If you included an email address on your paperwork, an alert will be sent to that address letting you know samples have been received and testing has begun. Thanks!
Corrina says
Hi I sent my envelope with everything on friday and my post office looked and said it would be there by Monday. I did pay the addtional $30 for the rush. So is it safe to say I should have results by Tuesday .? And also I set my test up online but I mt said I had to create and account and the website doesnt allow me to. Nor did I get to pick a password, only a 6digit number for when I call in. Am I still able to check online.?
Identigene says
Hi, Corrina. Because of our lab move, if your samples are due to arrive in Salt Lake on a Monday, then they will be overnighted to our lab in Ohio and most likely arrive on Tuesday. Depending on when your samples are processed, your results could be posted as early as Wednesday. If you included an email address with your paperwork, you’ll be notified once samples arrive. You can then set up your account online. If you have further questions, please reach out to us directly at 888-404-4363.
Shay says
If I put an email address and a phone number on the form , will you send a notification to both ?
And I sent my samples in on New Year’s Eve, how long before you receive them ?
Identigene says
Hi, Shay. You’ll be sent an email when your samples arrive in Ohio and testing begins. You can opt in to text message alerts when you set your test up online. It normally takes 5-7 business days for samples to arrive at the lab in Salt Lake City. We then overnight samples to the lab in Ohio. Hope this helps!
Keith Spencer Sr says
Yes I sent my test in over a week ago and haven’t heard anything yet. How do I suppose to know if ya’ll received them or not? I also sent a money order with it. When will I know something? Thank you
Identigene says
Hi! It takes 5-7 business days for samples to arrive at the lab and so your envelope is most likely still in transit. If you included an email address on your order form, an alert will be sent to that address once samples arrive.
Keith Spencer Sr says
Thank you
Madison says
Hi I sent my test off last Tuesday and was wondering when I am expecting my results
Identigene says
Hi, Madison. It takes 5-7 business days for the samples to be delivered if you used the postage-paid envelope in the kit. With the MLK holiday this week and the one-day delay for the transfer of samples from our former lab in Salt Lake to our lab in Ohio (as mentioned in this article), your samples may arrive by Friday at the earliest. This means you should expect your results sometime next week.
Doug says
When will I be able to log onto the site? I received an email stating that my results will be after 6:00 p.m. Eastern time tomorrow, but I am unable to log in.
Identigene says
Hi, Doug. You cannot log in until the testing is completed – this test is due to be completed 1-18 by 6pm EST. At that point you will be sent an email with a link to the website so you can download the report.
Britani says
Hi, I sent out my kit on January 7th and still haven’t heard anything back. It’s been almost 2 weeks. Should I call customer service? When should I be expecting my results?
Identigene says
Hi, Britani. It usually takes 5-7 business days for samples to arrive in Salt Lake, and then another business day for them to be overnighted to our lab in Ohio. If you sent them on January 7, seven business days would be today (January 18) due to the MLK holiday, and then another day for them to go to Ohio. If you included your email address in your testing paperwork, an alert will be sent to that address once samples arrive and testing begins. After that, results are posted in 2 business days, unless you paid a little extra for 1-day results. Hopefully this saves you a phone call!
Michelle says
Hi
I gave my samples to the mailman on Jan 6 and still haven’t received any e-mail about receiving them. What do I do?
Identigene says
Hi, Michelle. If you used the postage-paid envelope, it takes 5-7 business days for the samples to reach Salt Lake City and then another day to reach our lab in Ohio, as mentioned in this article. From your dates, and accounting for weekends and MLK holiday, samples should arrive today or tomorrow. Watch for that email!
Michelle says
We’ll when in called in I was told Tues or weds. …now it’s today or tomorrow?? Is there a certain time you send the expected e-mail?
Identigene says
The alert email is sent when your samples are received by our accessioning team and the testing process begins. Unfortunately, when it comes to postage-paid mail, we’re at the mercy of the US postal system’s delivery schedule. So the 5-7 days is our best estimate, but it sometimes takes a little longer, especially if there’s a federal holiday in the mix, like there was this week. As mentioned in the the kit instructions, customers do have the option to send in the samples via first class mail so they get here sooner and many do just that. But no worries, Michelle. No doubt they’ll arrive very soon!
Scott Harbison says
I can’t locate how much the actually laboratory testing costs?
I see the tests all around town, but do not see that actually lab prices?
Identigene says
Hi, Scott. For our kit, the lab fee is written plainly on the outside of the box. It’s $89 to test one child + one possible father + the mother (her participation is optional, but recommended).
Brittany says
Does the lab report include a signature of the person who composed the report?
Identigene says
Hi, Brittany. Yes, it does.
Andres says
Hello, I’m from New York state, the kit states that I must receive authorization from my Doctor. What exactly does that mean? Do I need a prescription from him or does he need to fill out a form? Please advise.
Identigene says
Hi, Andres. You can learn the basics of New York testing on our website, at the link below. If you have further questions or concerns, please call us directly at 888-404-4363. http://dnatesting.com/new-york-paternity-tests/
Emily says
I’m reading that it takes 5-7 business days for the swabs to make it to lab but my post lady told me that it was first class mail and it will take 2-3 business days. I mailed them Monday thinking I would have the results this week and when I read the article before that the lab was moving I realized that it may be longer than I hoped. If I mailed them Monday I should be getting my results feb 2? Is there anyway I can log in and pay the rush lab fee? These results can’t get here quick enough and if I would have known all that before I would have mailed them overnight to Ohio..
Identigene says
Hi, Emily. To make the request you mentioned, please call us directly at 888-404-4363.
Jamell says
I turned my kit in January 13th, 2018 it’s been 14 days and I haven’t received an email or any correspondence from you guys I already paid my money and was guaranteed that we’d receive results by now. It is detrimental that I receive my results in the next day or I would like my funds retuned!
Identigene says
Hi, Jamell. It often takes 10 business days (not including weekends) for the US Postal Service to deliver sample envelopes to us, if you used the prepaid mailer. So they’re probably just about here. As indicated in the kit, the one-day turnaround time does not include mailing time. But once they are here, you’ll get your results back fast. If you want to check on your test, the best way is to call us directly at 800-344-9583.
claudia says
Hi emily do you already receive your results? Or the email that it already arrive? Im wondering cause i haved send my swaps the same day as you and i have’t receive any email yet
Bobbi McGovern says
Hello I sent my test in on 1/21/17 and wondering when I’ll get the results back
Identigene says
Hi, Bobbi. As mentioned in this post, if you sent your samples using the postage-paid envelope included in the kit, please allow 5-7 business days for them to arrive at the former lab in Salt Lake City. They will then be overnighted to the lab in Ohio. Once samples are received and testing begins, an alert email will be sent to the address listed on your paperwork with an estimated time of results delivery. Unless you paid for expedited results, once samples arrive at the lab, the report should be posted in two business days. Hope this helps!
Christie says
I sent my test in on the 23rd it said yall received it today the 26th! When will i get my results back?
Identigene says
Hi, Christie. Unless you paid extra for express results, you can expect your results in two business days. So most likely Monday, the 30th. If you have further questions about your test, contact us directly at 888-404-4363.
Jessica says
I sent the test in on the 21st and still no email that they received it. When will I get my results back?
Identigene says
Hi, Jessica. As mentioned in this article, it takes 5-7 business days for samples to arrive at the lab, so no doubt they’re still en route. Once they arrive, an alert will be sent to the email address you put on the paperwork and, unless you paid extra for expedited results, your report will be posted in 2 business days.
MIA says
Hopefully I get my results tomorrow as I assume and counted days. I sent them on Friday Jan 20,2017 (the regular 5-7 business days)way. I’m aware that usps delivers on Saturday and Sunday as well. When will I be receiving the results? Being that we don’t don’t have access to the email we put down .
Identigene says
Hi, Mia. For testing updates, please call us directly at 888-404-4363.
Diana says
I sent in my swabs the 21st in the mailbox didn’t put an email on the paper so how will I know when they arrive to the lab?
Identigene says
Hi, Diana. You’ll have to call us at 888-404-4363 during business hours.
KIERRE BROWN says
hey how did you find out your results i didnt put an email either.
Tonya says
I sent my test off in Sunday 29th from South Carolina I wanted to know when you think we will hear something back
Identigene says
Hi, Tonya. As mentioned in this article, it takes 5-7 business days for samples to arrive at our former lab in Salt Lake City, plus one extra day for them to be shipped to our current lab in Ohio. That would put their arrival in Ohio on Monday at the earliest. If you included an email address on your paperwork, an alert will be sent to that address once samples arrive and testing has begun. Hope this helps!
Tonya says
Thank you
Identigene says
You’re welcome!
Charell says
Test was sent off on sat Jan 28 when do you think it will be received?
Identigene says
Hi, Charell. As stated in this article, allow 5-7 business days for the samples to get to Salt Lake, and then another day for them to be shipped to Ohio. So sometime next week is a safe assumption to make. If you included your email address on your paperwork, you’ll get a notification when your samples arrive and testing has begun.
BETH says
CAN I CHANGE THE ADDRESS DIRECTLY ON THE PRE PAID ENVELOPE?
Identigene says
Hi, Beth. You cannot change the address on the envelope and still have it be prepaid. You can drop your sample envelopes into a regular envelope, though, and pay for first-class postage. It won’t be much!
Kalesha says
Hi, we sent our kit off Jan. 25th, 2017. It’s been 13 days and we haven’t even received a text saying our samples made it to the lab ! It’s been well over 5-10 business days. When should we expect something?
Identigene says
Hi, Kalesha. Have you received an email notification or text yet that your samples have arrived? If not, give us a direct call at 888-404-4363.
Miranda says
I sent in my DNA samples on January 30th I still haven’t received any thing saying that they have received my samples and when I try to log in it says my account is inactive. I don’t understand what is going on. I already paid on line before I sent in the samples.
Identigene says
Hi, Miranda. You cannot log in to your account until your results are ready. If you included an email address on your paperwork, an alert will be sent to the address once samples arrive and testing begins. You will also be given an estimate on when your report will be posted. Once you receive an email confirmation that your results are ready, you can log in and view them. It takes 5-7 business days for samples to be delivered to the lab, so you should receive notification that they’re here sometime this week. Hope this helps!
Juanchella says
Hello I mailed in my sample and paid for my testing in the same day. February 2nd. When will I get a email stating the center has it and the final answer?
Identigene says
Hi, Juanchella. As stated in this article, it takes 5-7 business days for samples to arrive at our lab if you used the pre-paid envelope in the kit. That puts your samples’ arrival at sometime next week. After that, your results are posted in two business days. If you included an email address on your paperwork, alerts will be sent when samples arrive, and then again when your test report has been posted. Hope this helps!
Christina Curry says
Are you open on President’s day? I sent my results via FedEx last week and it says it’ll be delivered on the next business day, so would that be Monday, February 20th or Tuesday
Identigene says
Hi, Christina. We are open today, Presidents’ Day.
Xavier says
It says my account is inactive
Identigene says
Hi, Xavier. If you did a test prior to December, 2016, you will no longer be able to access your account. If you tested after December 15, please give us a call at 888-404-4363 for assistance.
Keisha says
I mailed my swaps Thursday, February 16 to Ohio via first-class mail and they were supposed to have arrived yesterday. I have not received an email notifying me that it was received. Will I still get my results this week?
Identigene says
Hi, Keisha. They may still be getting processed by our accessioning team. Once testing has begun, you should receive an email. If you don’t hear anything by end of day tomorrow, feel free to give us a call at 888-404-4363.
R says
Hi! I’ve sent a few e-mails prior but never received a response. My barcode number doesn’t seem to be registering for the online set up. How can I fix this? It’s a few letters and numbers enclosed by an asterisk.
Identigene says
Hi! There is a button on the website right under the one asking for the bar code. Just click that and follow instructions!
Bailey says
Hello, I sent my DNA test off Thursday the 16th via prepaid mail that came with the test. I have not received an email saying my results have gotten to the lab. Who do I need to contact to see where my DNA test is located?
Identigene says
Hi! It takes 7-10 business days for samples to reach our lab. Based on the date you gave, today is the 7th day. No worries! When they arrive you will get a notification email.
Allesha says
Will the test results have the names of the people being tested or just the account number with slots for mother, father and child?
Identigene says
Hi, Allesha. For a peace-of-mind, at-home test, only numbers and the role in the test for each participant appear on the report. If you get a legal (witnessed) done at an approved facility, then the test results do have names.
Tiffany says
I sent in the samples on Monday February 27th at the post office. And haven’t received an email yet! When would I hear something and get results?
Identigene says
Hi, Tiffany. If you used the postage-paid envelope included in the kit, please allow 7-10 business days for samples to arrive at the lab. Once they arrive an testing has begun, you’ll receive an email giving you an ETA for your test results.
Ebony says
I sent my envelope in on March 1st have yet to receive my email or text message?
Identigene says
Hi, Ebony. I wouldn’t worry just yet. The post office has been slow in delivering this week, we’ve noticed. If you still haven’t heard anything by Friday, please give us a call at 888-404-4363.
Suzanne says
We sent the sample on February 28th, and still haven’t received a confirmation that the samples got there. Is there any way to call and make sure they got there?
Identigene says
Hi, Suzanne. We’ve noticed that the post office has been slow in its delivery the last few weeks and samples have been arriving a few days later than expected. Had they arrived, you definitely would have been notified, so if you still don’t hear anything by Monday, give us a call at 888-404-4363.
Tia says
I sent my sample last Friday, just wondering how long it would take to get a response. Thank you
Identigene says
Hi, Tia. It takes 7-10 business days for samples to arrive at the lab, if you used the postage-paid envelope included in the kit. You’ll get an email confirmation once your samples have arrived, and results are generally posted two business days after arrival.
Jacklynn Hintz says
I paid the 30 dollars for rush results and i received my email verification that they received my samples Friday the 17th and that i wouldn’t have my results until Tuesday the 21st at 6pm….I was just wondering why i paid the extra 30 if its still 2 days for results?
Identigene says
Hi, Jacklynn. More testing must have required in order to get conclusive results. You’re welcome to give us a call and see what’s happening. 888-404-4363.
Michele says
Good afternoon, I am trying to speak with someone because I have questions that have not been answered. I have tried to call and speak with someone several times and have been on hold for 20 minutes at a time. Can someone please tell me why I am not able to speak with anyone even though your website states in other blogs that they should call 888-404-4363? Is there another telephone number that I should be using since you have moved?
Please help as I truly need assistance. Also, I see that the cost of your equipment is less than $10.00 on line. Is it really $89.00 in the stores.
Identigene says
Hi, Michele. I’m sorry for the wait, but it’s our busiest time of year and we’re experiencing higher-than-usual call numbers. The cost of a paternity DNA collection kit is $24.99 in stores. The $89 you reference is a lab fee to test one child + one possible father. It is a separate cost from the kit. Hope this helps!
B.G.S says
Hi. I sent my test off on Tuesday 3/21/17 and just wanted to see if you had possibly received my samples yet?
Identigene says
Hi, B.G.S. If you used the postage-paid envelope included in the kit, please allow at least 7-10 business days for samples to arrive at the lab. How fast they get here depends entirely on the efficiency of the US Postal Service.
DJ says
Still waiting ! Been 9 days ..my instructions didn’t ask for a code on the page for online info. I sent it in and do not have the code to supply it. What next..When the information is typed in it replies no match. What is with that?
Identigene says
Hi, DJ. Please contact us directly at 888-404-4363 and one of our specialists will be happy to help you.
Jessie Kimberlin says
I have called 888-404-4363 three times and it says I’ve reached a none working number. I sent my test in 10 days ago and have received nothing in an email. I’m getting very frustrated!
Identigene says
Hi, Jessie. Our phone system has been experiencing glitches today and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience! You are welcome to call us at this alternate number: 800-681-7162. It’s been taking the post office a little longer lately to deliver business-reply envelopes. But no worries! No doubt your samples are simply still making their way to the lab.
Brian says
I got an email saying that my test results would be ready yesterday , I did pay for the day turn-around and I still haven’t received anything , is it cause it was on a Friday?
Identigene says
Hi, Brian. Yes, it’s always the next business day.
Brittany says
I sent my samples in about 10 days ago and still have not received anything! Was wondering when I could expect an email!
Identigene says
Hi, Brittany. It takes up to 10 business days, so weekends don’t count. Should be soon!
Scollin3 says
Hello I put my samples in the mailbox on Sunday. Normally the mail would be sent out on Monday 4/10/17. When should I be expecting my results to show online? Also, which password should I use when logging in the one I put in the sample kit or the one I used to register the test online?
Identigene says
Hi there! As mentioned on this page, please allow 10 business days for your samples to reach our lab if you used the pre-paid envelope included in the kit. You will receive an email alert when samples arrive. If you the password you entered online is different from the one you put on your paperwork, then the online password overrides the one on paper and you should use that one.
shay says
Do you do your testing on Saturdays as well?
Identigene says
Hi, Shay. Employees are working in our lab on Saturdays, but reports are not issued over the weekend.
Jd says
I sent out the pre paid envelope with a complete order form and the samples, I wrote down my credit card number on the order form. Do I have to do anything else or just wait for the email? Do I have to set up online also?
Identigene says
Hi, Jd. You do not set up online…we’ll do that for you once your samples arrive here at the lab. Once testing begins, you’ll start getting notification emails from us, so no worries!
K.a.g. says
Does testing start the day swabs are received and count as part of the 2-business day testing? Or does it start the day after?
Identigene says
Hi, K.a.g. It depends on what time of day they are delivered to the lab, but it’s usually the day after.
Jenni says
In my kit, it says the lab fee is $119, but I called the number for the company and they are telling me it’s $89, I included my credit card number in the form I sent in with the samples, how do I know which price it is that I will be getting charged?
Identigene says
Hi, Jenni. It is possible that the bar code for your kit didn’t (for whatever reason) register in our system, and if that happens, the system defaults to charging the $89 price from the older kits. Since you were told $89 by customer service, you can assume that’s what you’ll be charged.
Kayla says
Hi my boyfriend sent in dna samples in april and still have not got the results when will we be getting these results
Identigene says
Hi, Kayla. He should call us immediately to see what’s happening with his test!
Brittany says
Will both test parties receive the results ?
Identigene says
Hi, Brittany. Results are posted to a secure online account created by the customer who ordered the test. Any party with access to that account will see the results.
Morgan says
We sent our test off September 11 and still have not received anything!
Identigene says
Hi, Morgan. It can take 10 business days for samples to arrive and you’re beyond that threshold. Please give us a call at 800-344-9583 so that one of our customer-service specialists can look into what’s happening with your case.
Jane says
Hi,
I’m planning on buying a paternity test kit in-store. I’ll be purchasing it here in the US and then taking it with me on my flight to Thailand. The cheek DNA samples would be collected after I arrive at my destination in Thailand. I’m wondering if the kit is okay to be shipped internationally from Thailand to Ohio. Thank you
Identigene says
Hi, Jane. No problem!
Ivey says
When will I receive a email? I sent swabs n info in 11/21. Today I woke up and I been charged. But no email so what’s next?
Identigene says
Hi, Ivey. You’re welcome to call us at 800-344-9583 and we’ll be happy to give you an update on your test.
Brandon says
Hi I sent my test on Thursday 1st 2018. When will you receive my test samples also when will I get my results?
Identigene says
Hi, Brandon. If you used the postage-paid mailer in the kit, it takes about 10 business days for the postal service to deliver the envelope to us. After that, the process goes very fast and you’ll get your results in 1-2 business days.
Joyce says
I sent my samples off on Feb 17th and I still haven’t been notified.
Identigene says
Hi, Joyce. The samples are most likely just still on their way here. You’re welcome to call us at 800-344-9583.
Lane says
I was told I could use my saliva to determine the paternity of my alleged grandson. My son is in the military and a nurse gave me some misinformation. I swabbed my mouth and the baby’s. Will the test show whether or not the baby could possibly be my grandchild. I sure hope so!! #excited!!!
Identigene says
Hi, Lane. Did you use the Identigene kit? As indicated on the outside of the box, this kit and its associated lab fee are for testing 1 child + 1 alleged father + the mother. If the kit is used for any other type of relationship, such as grandparentage, the lab fee is higher. Also, it’s best if the mother of the child also participates in order to improve the chances of getting conclusive results. If you used another lab, I recommend you call them. If you used Identigene, please call us at 800-344-9583.
Yasir says
Hi
I have send my test on 11/11/2018. I want to know the result first. Then switch it to court purposes if the result are negative, Can I still do that? Do you guys get rid of the samples? What is your recommendation if I found negative in my favor to present it to court because in my case I am trying to appeal because the family showed up and affected my case.
