What if. . .?
Trust us: We’ve seen it all!
What if the alleged father swabs his four-legged friend instead of himself? Rest assured, IDENTIGENE’s laboratory is equipped to recognize these ‘Fido or Feline flags.” Our primers, analyzers, and controls are all geared for human DNA: anything else comes back as “no data.”
What if the mom swabs her sister instead of her child to make sure the biological relationship is denied? Well, in the case of a close relative, we can usually tell if a person is related to one of the other people swabbed. However, if someone swabs a friend or other unrelated person instead of the child, the test results would obviously say the man is not the biological father. The best way to avoid controversy is to have all three people together when you are swabbing-that way you can be certain of whose samples are submitted. If it’s impossible for everyone to be in the same room for the swabbing, IDENTIGENE can arrange to have collections supervised by a trained disinterested 3rd part (a Collector). There is an extra cost involved, so contact Client Support if you are interested in this option.
What if a person swabs themselves and the child with one swab? This one is easy! The lab would quickly identify it as a ‘mixed’ profile.
In conclusion, here’s a bit of reassurance: If our laboratory suspects fraudulent testing, we contact the client for a retest. Test results are strengthened by including DNA from BOTH the alleged father and biological mother as well as the child. That’s why our kit includes materials to test all three people, without an extra charge.

do you have a way of telling if someones dna was taking and someone elses name put on that dna?? for example a girl says she having dna done her boyfriend signs the permission paper and does the swabs (on swabs other than that of what you provide, and he unknowling the difference in swabs) but the girl takes your swabs to the other guy thats the possible father and swabs him and puts her boyfriends info on the swab. therefore giving a false positive and a huge mistake. here we have a young man being accused of being a father plus getn nailed for support of a kid thats not realy his. im sorry but for you to say that your 100% acccurate and is legal to stand up in court is WRONG!! i know a case where this is suspected to have happen just here recently.

Hello. I think you are misunderstanding 100% accuracy. The procedure we use is 100% accurate. The results given are 100% accurate from our laboratory for the samples we received. A legal collection is the only collection that will be allowed in court. A legal collection is arranged by the customer and our customer service department. IDENTIGENE arranges a disinterested third party to witness the collection from each involved party, collects proper paperwork, confirms identity of each participant, and mails in the samples. This removes the chances for the situation you described. Our test is 100% accurate but this is seperate from whether or not the DNA submitted is 100% honest. The only way to make sure the DNA is 100% honest is to arrange for a legal collection.
