Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton blogged about Michael Lohan purchasing a DNA Paternity Test.
Michael Lohan talked about it on a morning radio show on WBLI in Long Island. In a nutshell, he purchased the kit to prove alleged paternity for a twelve-year old child. Its unclear if samples have ever been sent in, but its certainly interesting to know that even celebrities deal with these types of issues and hopefully find some peace of mind through DNA Paternity Testing.

At IDENTIGENE we take our customers’ privacy very seriously. To be safe, we are consistent in our privacy processes, because there have been many cases where someone, whether a participant or not, wanted information that was not theirs to ask for.
Our policies state that we cannot give case-related information to anyone not listed on the case. If the identity of someone who calls in or emails cannot be verified, then we don’t provide any case information. While these processes can be frustrating and inconvenient for someone who is seeking info to which they are entitled, they are in place to protect everyone. In nearly all cases, legitimate parties in the case can work with a client support representative to establish identity while preserving security.
In some cases, an alleged father’s significant other may locate the password and thought that by emailing a support representative she could get case info or even results. So, our advice is: For those who would like to email for case status, please be advised that if you want information about your case you will need to use your own email address and not that of a friend or significant other.
Paternity Tests and the results that are produced from them are some of the most sensitive information possible, and testing often turns lives upside down. We must do everything we can to protect every person in these cases, even if they do not want our protection.

When thinking about genetics a fascinating topic is twins and how much DNA they actually share. As most people know there are two common types of twins, fraternal and identical. Identical twins are considered to be, as the name indicates, genetically identical and all their genetic markers are the same. Fraternal twins, however, only share the same amount of DNA as full siblings. How does this apply to DNA Testing and particularly paternity tests?
Imagine if a child has two alleged fathers, and in this situation the two alleged fathers are twins. Whether they are fraternal or identical will determine how we approach this in the lab and whether or not a conclusive result can be found at all.
If the alleged fathers are fraternal twins testing is conducted as if two alleged fathers are full siblings without being twins.The best case scenario in this test is to collect a DNA sample from both alleged fathers. This way we can compare both individuals’ DNA and accurately determine which of the twins is in fact the father of the child. If one twin is not available for paternity testing then we must perform extended analysis. This additional analysis will have an additional fee associated with it. This analysis is done to conclude whether the tested alleged father is in fact the father or is more likely to be an uncle to the child. If you find yourself in this situation I recommend contact our Client Support group to discuss the best testing for you.
If the two alleged fathers are identical twins there is currently no way to determine which of them is the father of the child.
The other question that can come up with twins and DNA paternity testing is about children. If the children are twins, do we have to test both to confirm the paternity of each? That depends!
