please explain the combined relationship index, i have two sons that used the dna kit, with two different babies
and their relationship index was significantly different.
my son is not convince that the child is his son, should he recheck with blood specimen?
Identigene says
Hi Denise,
The relationship index will not be the same or likely similar for both of your sons test results. The relatinoship index is an indicaion of strength of relationship between the child and father. Since the fathers tested with two different children, they will not be similar. The DNA profile or the pairs of numbers in the alleged father column may be similar however because they are brothers. They both could have inherited the same or similar DNA from you and their father at the different locations. it is important to note that they won’t be exactly the same, as each person’s DNA is different. If they have different fathers and are half siblings, their DNA will differ even more than if they were full siblings. Hopefully this helps clarify what the relationship index is. Can it be determined if a child is your grandson without the father’s DNA? Grandparents to Grandson?
Admin says
Hi, Mike! The answer is yes. You can learn more about it at the link below. That being said, if the child is a minor, then signed consent for testing must be provided by their legal guardian.
