Paternity Test: What if You are NOT the Father?

It happens. A man can be unaware that a wife or girlfriend has been with someone else. Sometimes a woman may manipulate the story or omit key information that would provide hints to the truth about paternity. Whatever the circumstances, we know it hurts to find out you are not the biological father of a child you love and provide for.

In some cases the father has emotionally and financially supported the child for years. This is one of the most difficult conversations handled by the IDENTIGENE Client Support Team. The silence on the other end of the telephone after telling a person he is not the biological father is painful.

Legal DNA Testing: How it Works

Trust plays a huge part in paternity testing. We receive hundreds of calls questioning sample integrity. If the potential father swabs without the mother watching, there is a chance the mother will have doubts about the integrity of the DNA sample. Sometimes the best solution is a legal test. IDENTIGENE works with you to easily arrange for a third-party Collector to witness the swabbing of all involved participants; this way everyone knows the swabs belong to the right person.

Want to know the steps for legal testing? It sounds more complicated than it is. Trust us!

1. Call IDENTIGENE at 1-800-344-9583. In order to maintain chain of custody, we must send a collection kit directly to the approved collection facility. If you’ve already purchased an at-home kit, no problem. We’ll refund your account.

2. Pay for the lab fee and collection fee with a major credit card or money order

3. Agree upon a convenient place and time to meet with an IDENTIGENE sample Collector. This person will witness the DNA collection, help you fill out appropriate paperwork, verify photo identification and mail in the DNA specimens

4. Log in to dnatesting.com for your test results
