One Person’s Experience with IDENTIGENE DNA Paternity Tests

We received an email from a customer who purchased an IDENTIGENE DNA Paternity Test Kit from a local Rite Aid. We left off her name to protect her privacy.

Choosing the right DNA test was hard for me. I called all the 1-800 numbers and searched online. Then a friend told me about the Rite Aid test. I did some research and thought that it was right for me. I bought the test and then mailed it in. It took me 10 business days (including mailing time for the samples) and I had my results. I am very pleased with my experience. Not only was it fast and painless but it was cheap in comparison to the $400 the other companies wanted. So thank you IDENTIGENE.”

Buying DNA Testing at your Local Pharmacy: the Experience

Everyday on my daily commute to work I sit and wait for a train in front of my local Rite-Aid®. Today as I sat there I pondered what it may be like for a customer of ours to purchase a DNA Paternity Test Kit off the shelf there or at one of thousands of other locations across the United States. It’s a difficult to imagine what a person may be thinking or feeling as they roam the isles of their local pharmacy or store searching for the DNA Testing Kit.

Because I want to understand this experience I am hoping that a few customers out there read this blog and either comment with their stories if they are comfortable or if they want to be more private they can email me at kstyer@identigene.com.

Is Mom really Necessary for a DNA Test?

It may seem like a silly idea to collect a DNA sample from mom for a DNA Paternity Test because there’s no doubt she’s mom, right? However, her DNA contains valuable information that can help strengthen the results of your paternity test or other tests to establish grandparent or sibling relationships.

Think of it this way: Both mom and dad give the child half of the child’s DNA. So if we test mom we can determine which half she contributed and which half came from dad.

In some rare cases, having the mother’s information along with the dad’s can mean the difference between an inconclusive DNA test result and a conclusive one. This is why we say her sample is highly recommended but not required. Most DNA paternity tests can be done conclusively without the mother’s samples.
